Post subject:  GPS mounts for KJ dash

I want to mount my Magellin Exploist GPS on my dash. I see RAM (TM) has a quite a few different mounting bases. Can any one recommend a particular one and provide the part number? Were you able to mount a base with double stick tape only?

Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

Get the suction cup type mount with the stem so you can mount you GPS in different vehicles as needed and it leaves no mark. I have my Scangauge mounted this way, the suction base is really strong. I'll look for the model and let you know.

Take a look at www.gpscity.com. This is where I bought my Garmin and mount.

I have the ram mount for my Garmin 60c and it is beefy. A little more pricey than the Factory Garmin suction mount, but it is ten times better. My friend has the factory mount and it vibrates and comes loose at times. The RAM mount is great, no vibration, very adjustable, and super sturdy. Plus if you ever get another GPS or anything, just need to get a new holder, the rest of the mount will work.

I bought A suction cup mount from autozone for $8 and i put velcro on the back of my explorist 600. it works great, it has never fell off, it's easy to grab and go after a geocache.

I think for a hand held GPS a nice way would be to use a RAM cradle mounted to this base:

That kind of base works well for PnP Satellite radio units also.
