Post subject:  GPS shopping

I'm looking at getting a GPS for using mostly in the jeep. I'll also use it fishing and hiking around (nothing to extreme though). I am looking at the Garmin 60CSx.

I want an external antenna - the XJ windshield is a little straight up and down. Other than that I am looking for durability and good for waypoint and track keeping. Not to concerned about the driving directions.

Any input?

Hi Marisha :D

I have the 60 C and like it...it's got something like 54megs of storage which is pretty good , get the car charger for whatever you get.

Try this link for some information. Looks like the one your looking at has a memory card which is great ...thats the only thing I wish mine had.

I bought mine from REI ...it was more money from them...but you can take it back if you don't like it with NO questions asked (I returned a Rhino Gps that I had for a year and didn't have the reciept...not a problem since I had a membership and they keep track of your purchases. Since REI is a co-op you get 10% back at the end of the year too...so don't forget to calculate that into the price).

Hope all is well....miss your smiling face (ps...howz that chair workin out ?) :P

I would try Garmin's website, they have a purchase asst. www.garmin.com

They have a purchase asst. The 60CS & 60CSx is what the hardcore cachers use. I have a 60CS and love it.

Hey Jeff! Say hi to Denise and the rest of the gang for me! The chair is great, it goes on every run with me - so it's almost like you're there in spirit - almost. :) With any luck, I am going to try to make it down there next year to visit. Looking at trying to make Moab if I can... Keeping my fingers crossed. No Jeep though, that's a long drive. Oh well... Anyway,

Thanks guys for your input on the GPS. I think the 60CSx is what I'm going to get. I was also looking at the 76CSx, but for what I would get for the price increase (read: crap I'll really never use), I think the 60 will be the better one for me.

Thanks!

Miss you SoCal guys!
