That's some serious power cable! Is that 2 or 4 AWG, or larger? I'm installing my amp right now and am running two 6 AWG cables for 100A, you can probably do 200A off of your cables. By the way, nice box!

Just wait until I get my SoloX

It will be dual 0AWG from the front battery to the two in the back and then a single less than 1 foot from the amp.
But that I won't be doing for at least 4 years.

ive got a single l7 15 inch and thats plenty to set off car alarms......wouldnt want to know how loud solox gets. (actually i do)

Can anybody offer some suggestions as to my various options of running large-gauge power wires from the engine compartment to the rear cargo area? I'm planning to put a couple of Optimas in the back to power various electrical devices while the engine is off.

The power lines will be used to charge up the battery bank while driving and the engine is on. Charging will be carried out via a regulator/charger that will both control the charging current when the engine is on and act as a switch/isolator for when the engine is off. The plan is to use 0 gauge (huge!) but I'll use a lighter gauge if I can do it safely. I'm concerned that if I drain the battery bank to a fairly low voltage, the power cables will have to carry a very large charging current.

Any thoughts? Since this is a leased company vehicle, I'll have to do everything as least "invasive" (or at least "reversible") as possible...

Both sides of the vehicle have a channel under the carpet that DC uses to run wires to the back. The channel on the left has a fairly large bundle and thus not as much room as the channel on the right, which only has a very small bundle running though it. You could probably fit 0 AWG down the right channel but not the left. I just fit two 6 AWG cables down the left channel. Either way you're going to have to drill somewhere. I don't think 0 AWG will fit through the clutch knockout in the firewall that most people use for their cable. When I pulled my wire I ran one 6 AWG cable through the clutch knockout and then drilled another hole beside it and ran the other 6 AWG cable. Make sure you put gromets in the holes and seal them up with something like Goop glue. With two 6 AWG cables I should be able to get 100A to the back at least, I believe I read from a chart somewhere that the cables can handle 100A each but that's at 100 degrees C!

I run 0 gauge in mine. I ran it under the car along the brake lines. From the engine compartment to about the trans i have it running through heaterhose for added protection. I think running it all through heater hose would be better though. I have it coming up though the floor in the cargo area with a water tight grommet. Take a look at my carstereo.com link in my sig.
