I was hoping to get some aftermarket muffler info from you. What size is the exhaust pipe and what was the part number? I'm hoping to get a few more MPG. Thanks

Exhaust pipe is 2 1/2". Stock muffler has a centered inlet and offset outlet, but the tailpipe has enough clearance and play you can use it with a center/center or straight-thru muffler if you want to reuse it. There's a 2 bolt flange between the cat and muffler, unbolting this flange will allow you to remove the muffler and entire rear section of the exhaust piping from the CRD in one piece.

For an Aero Turbine, p/n is 2525 (2 1/2" inlet/outlet). For Flowmaster, Magnaflow, etc, several models (and prices) that would work, just need to decide which one you prefer.

Thanks for the info. I helped install an Aeroturbine on a friends '04 Dodge Cummins. I wasn't convinced of their claims, however it was a very quality piece. His truck is essentially straight piped with that AT installed. My Ram is straight piped, and it sounds very aggresive, but not too loud. It doesn't have a drone that the '04 with the AT does. his drone is mild though. How do you like yours? How much was it? And do you have any pics?

You should be considering a 2.75" (, or 3" system if you can get one at a decent price). Make sure it goes ALL the way to the back of the turbo, as most engines this size suffer significantly from restrictions in the cast dump housing.

2.5" is a bit low for the engine power output when you fit a Diesel Performance Tuning Module for more performance.

We are finding that fitting an improved exhaust system with a one of these modules makes a big difference to drivability and power across the rev range. How ever be very careful trying to bump the boost without appropriate precautions, or you will generate ECU codes from over boost. The over boost is an artifact of the VGT having limited resolution for its adustment.
