Bad news First ... Jan 26 I had a glow plug and a glow plug relay replaced
Today I go in due to check engine light ... another glow plug fault ... Thursday it should be in I have an appointment to go in.

Good news ... Truck starts and runs fine even with bad glow plug ... although I wish they would get the real issue figured out .. two glow plugs in the Libby seems more than coincidence as I haven't heard others here with glow plug problems.

Another bit of good news ... We had 12+ inches of snow last Thursday ... wasn't enough to keep the fiancee from going to work ... said she had about a 3 foot drift on the hood after work ... mentioned the Libby pulled awesome through the snow as well ... I can vouch for that as I had to make an emergency run for tostidos chips that night ... we were deathly low and I reluctantly took the libby through numerous side streets and such looking for good traction. I didn't find a single plowed street though....

Wow, has your EGR been replaced? We've noticed a stuck EGR can take out glow plugs as it causes them to cycle during normal driving, wearing them out.

I love driving in the snow - whenever we go skiing I always want to drive to dinner :)

Bad EGR took out 2 of my glowplugs.... it starts a lot slower with 2 out. Runs really smoky too. Those gp's are used to keep emissions down whenever the cylinder temps get too low.

FYI, hope your Jeep tech is real gentle with those ceramic glow plugs. If you even drop them a couple of inches they shouldn't be used.

Your tec should also refrain from "testing" them with battery voltage... have him look at that little yellow sticker on the front of your CRD timing cover.... the one with the "CAUTION - GLOW PLUGS are 7 Volts DC only - 12 VDC will destroy them." They're not used to that yet.

well I took it in today .... and the regular diesel guy is in school .. they didn't want to tear it apart as it was #2 (third back) plug and apparently they have to remove something ( guessing turbo) that will most likely result in torn gasket ... one they don't have in stock ... so its a loaner till next week ... I'm thinking they want the regular diesel guy to check it out ... last time I was in ... one of the guys there wouldn't work on it as he hasn't been trained on CRD's ... good call on his part ...

I'm also having them check the rear brake moan which has returned ..

I was so po'd I ordered the skid plates .. that'll show 'em !!
