I've been waiting on parts to do some work, some turned up and some didn't so I ran out of patience and decided to fit what I had. Alternator pulley, right side wheel hub, oils for engine and front diff. Sound like a nice easy day!

Ordered equivalent 53013554 pulley, spent a bit of time getting the alternator off but the pulley was simple (with an impact).

How many pulleys are there for a 2006 KJ? It seems there are at least two and I got the wrong one!! Mine is almost flat at the back

The one I got has a raised piece, like I thought they all had. Old one back on for now :(

Wheel hub, nightmare to get off the splines but got there with the help of the universal screwdriver (BFH). New one on (cheap version) nice and easy, took if for a run, quieter but all the ABS lights on. Took it to bits again to check the sensor in one piece, re-connected but lights still there. I'm thinking of just buying another wire as its not a top of the line hub and for the price I wasn't expecting OEM quality.

Engine oil (6 litres full synth Castrol Edge) and (Wix) filter went like a breeze, nice and easy with the Fumoto drain.

Front diff :banghead: The engine skid has to come off anyway as I'm throwing in a new motor mount (when it arrives) How does it go? loosen two rear bolts, remove front two and lower. Mine went, loosen two rear bolts and snap front two! One at the head and the other in the crossmember, I'll get a bolt remover on one and drill the other. Next, how the hell can you overfill a diff? Bear in mind I've got the front jacked up, took the fill plug out and welcome to a face full of oil, plug back in.

Lower the car, throw everything back in the garage, come in, get wash, open beer and tell you all about my wonderful day :D

Any Ideas on the pulley part number I need and am I guessing right about the ABS wire or have I missed something.

Thanks for listening, I'm going for more beer!

Edited to confirm pulley not OEM but equivalent.

Smile. When I saw your thread, I thought you had a severe engine failure from a broken timing belt or possibly bearing failure.

Getting a face full of friction modifier sucks, but your day sounds about right for the average gonna-go-dork-around-with-the-car day. Murphy happened.

Murphy rides shotgun all the time with the CRD :banghead:

It looks like "audiboy86" had the same issue with the pulley, old on left, new on right.

I've dropped him a pm for any advice.

Luckily its raining so nothing else can be broken today

Audiboy86 had to pick up a new alt so does anybody know the part number for the pulley on the left of the above pic?

Also re the ABS, assuming the new sensor is ok, can I just splice the old lead in?

Thanks guys

Finished everything else yesterday.

New 7V Genesis/Vega steel glow plug, only one bad, number 4, so only one changed.

ABS/new hub is a disaster. Makes more noise than before and the hole for the sensor is too low on the hub, waiting for another

Engine mount done, the front isn't rattling as much as before (somethings still rattling at 2000 rpm though).

Given up with the alt pulley for now, too much money for a reconditioned alt and waaay too much money for a new one.

Going to take it to a mechanic to get the sheared bolts out, cant be precise enough with a drill lying on my back

So swap hub and re-fit the front skid and then I think its time to get rid of it..............and buy another one with way fewer miles (and a warranty :D )
