As to the original question, I am currently running Royal Purple 15/40 synthetic. Why? Because Autozone had a closeout at $15 gallon. Bought both of them. It will be going through a midwest winter. Currently has 3k on the oil. Can't say the performance is any different from the Rotella T6.
