Well the CRD is not going into all gears...Ii think just 2nd and 3rd...70mph highway is about 3600rpm.

Haven't had time to check it out...frustrating...need to get it solved. Check fluid levels tomorrow...DC changed TC once but they still used old style TC.

Truly thinking of giving GreenDieselEngineering.com a call...shipping it to them...having them fix the tranny/install the upgraded turbo kit/freshen the top end after 160,000 miles and fly up to drive it back to texas. Still cheaper than buying something new and the CRD still fits all my needs.

Sounds like you got into limp mode.
The transmission may need new input and output speed sensors.

Throw a Tranny scanner on it Darby, with a normal scanner you're just going to get the generic P0700.

Most lately we've been seeing The Input/Output sensors (As Previously mentioned) and also we've been seeing Solenoid Valve packs going out.

This transmission is pretty stout honestly.

Sensors will run you about $60 and the Solenoid pack is about $290 (Do NOT BUY USED OR REMAN, please as there is an updated design)

If you get the Transmission scanner and it shows pressure switch check errors or the like, it's definitely the solenoid pack.

ID Parts has the Fluid and filters for $200, you might be able to get the same cheaper at a local NAPA TBH, but they're great folk so I mention and will continue to support them.

You can fix both in your driveway TBH.

Did you just change fluid and filters? Had exact problem and solution was I had just changed fluids and filters and services put in a pancake filter for a 45RFE and when I was in a steep angle ( off road ) or did a faster turn ( right turn ) the trans went to limp (2 and 3 only). Fluid was not getting where it needed. Threw a code p0735 I believe. After level driving everything returned to normal. Persons have said even on this website a 45RFE filter kit was OK for our 545RFEs. But it is not as the intake tube on that flat filter is too shallow allowing air to enter in under angles or during turns. Anyway FWiW....
And only AT+4 fluid....
