-24 this morning in St Paul, MN. Cycled the glow plugs twice (all accessories tunred off).

She cranked slower than normal but fired with the normal amount of below zero complaining. Rattled briefly and smoothed out.

I do have a GDE hot tune.

What glow plugs do you have, and was your block heater plugged in?

I was not plugged in and I have stock glow plugs as far as I know.

It had sat over night. (when my kid came home at 10 he tripped over the ext. cord and did not notice he had unplugged it.

Later the same day after driving to work sitting from 6:30 AM I went out at lunch 11:30 when it was -18 degrees and started to be sure I had no issues. It again started right off.

I have only had the jeep since last fall and was unfamiliar with how it would do for cold weather starts. It does start smoother while plugged in. Last month I was winter camping with my scouts and the jeep sat all weekend unplugged. Sunday morning it rattled off but started without issue then too. We were just below zero all weekend at that time too.

I will have to look at my profile. I was not alerted to this reply.

Well, after the great midwest "cold snap" I have to say that the steel glow plugs do, indeed, work ok.

There were lots of "won't start good" predictions, but honestly, it started better than I expected at -15, though there was a lot of clatter, missing and blue smoke for about 30 - 60 seconds.

And, the AGM battery from O'Reilly's is pretty darn good!
