I just made the change this weekend since mine was built on 01-06 and that same oil has been sitting in there for the past 8 months. The oil that came out was like sludge, and I don't mean just because it was dirty...it was so thick..you could spread it on your toast like butter....but I wouldn't recommend that

Factory fill should drain about like water. Did you drop it hot?

Oh yeah, it drained out very fast....but it looked really nasty and when I dipped my fingers in it...it was like a very thick syrup....it just looked nasty for only having 600 miles on it...and trust me...I have done many oil changes on other Diesels like my 2006 VW TDI and a 1982 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel and none of them were ever this thick and nasty.

This 0w40 is not a Diesel rated oil so I don't know why the heck they are using it in these vehicles...as I stated before...I put in the new Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40. It even seems to run a little quieter and smoother with the new oil in.

I got news for ya, RFCRD, the Chinese cars are already on the way. Both Chery and Gillie (not sure of spelling on the later) are expected here with the 2007 or 2008 model year.

And there is a reason business (and all those manufacturing jobs) have gone to China: with 8+ yuan to the dollar, it results in things like beer for 38 cents a liter on the street in Beijing, and tractors sold at Northern Tool for 1/3 what a similar IH or Deere would cost.

the Mobil 1 0w40 is Diesel rated with the appropriate diesle rating (can't remember it off the top of my head). I used it for my first oil change.

The turbodiesel truck 5w40 is clearly a superior oil for our application IMHO.

And as folks complain about the price of fuel, driven by the market price of crude, which is now driven by demand from China, all you need to do is follow the money trail back to the USA. We created this monster by rewarding a communist dictatorship with most favored nation trade status. Now they are biting us in the a%# by dumping products in our markets made with slave labor while trashing the enviornment. Just wait until we have to buy weapons from them too when we realize we lack industrial capacity to build our own.
