I've got just over 3500 on mine. I have the quirky torque converter, and maybe some issues with my fulltime 4wd settings but no check engine lights and no egr problems that I have noticed. I am running just ULSD mainly because there are no close stations (within 50 miles) with bio. I have noticed since this is my 2nd tank on the ULSD no smoking. Mileage, I'm not sure. Initially I had averaged 24.5, hand calculated, then towed the camper home, and averaged 22.5. However, since towing, I have yet to get the initial 24.5. I might take issue with this next year, but for now it's way too early to be concerned. Heck, I don't even have my driving style down for optimum mileage yet. I know a lot of people are passing me, and that takes some getting used to because previously I was the one doing the passing

I let people pass me all the time. It's not because I can't pass them, but I enjoy knowing the fact that they are wasting lots of fuel and normally they don't get that far ahead of me. I do get on it every once in a while to keep things cleared out, but I mostly drive at safe speeds (5-10 mph over the speed limit..but mostly closer to 5mph over). Even going 10mph over people are still flying past me like I am standing still on I-95. It's no wonder so many people die in car accidents each year.

I feel the same way...I just look over with a smile on my face as they suck GAS going by me...they probably think I am a little light in the head...I just keep repeating the mantra...33mpg...33mpg..33mpg

True, and those same people flooring it day-in and day-out are the same ones who complain about high gas prices. They are just too ignorant to understand how much their driving style has an affect on their fuel economy.

Just for some math fun - if I have a 15 gallon tank, and my vehicle averages 30mpg on the highway under restrained driving, and my agressive driving knocks 2mpg off of that figure that equates to 30 miles per tank loss or a waste of 1 gallon. Now, if I fill up once per week, that means I waste 52 gallons of fuel a year. Now, think about how many people do this and you can see how much of an affect this has on our national demand for fuel. Even if you figure gas prices of $2 per gallon, you are throwing $104 in the trash every year....really sad.

Just over 6k on my wifes CRD... It is in the shop as we speak for the ball joint recall and a short in the communications to the ABS control module (kinda killed the tach and speedo).... She wouldn't trade it for anything and I find it as much fun to drive as my F250 Powerstroke (only reason it isn't more fun is it doesn't sit as high :D )... Do love this ride and look forward to many fun years of driving it....

Ken....

I've done 6,600kms now, mainly low range trails & offroad - my libby only sees the highway when on route to 4x4ing !!

Only problem was the flash needed to fix the engine temp guage - reading false ?

God I love my KJ CRD Ltd..........

14000 trouble free miles here. Only a few quirks, not worth bringing it into the shop over.

"I do love my CRD ............. I'm just gonna start looking for a Europen 6-speed when the warranty is gone and deal with the EGR my way is it dies again "

When you find out how to do that let us know, cause i for one would love to be shifting my own gears again.

Well, I normally drive 5 over. I have an insterstate drive for about 90% of my drive to and from work. The car driving like that is my Focus, and I still average about 34 mpg, which I didn't think was too terrible. Now that I have this major concern about fuel mileage, I should drive the Focus to work like I do the Jeep. I wonder if it would be that impressive a gain.

The biggest thing I notice is when I am driving slower in the Jeep, as everyone else blows past and get tangled up with one another, I get to be slow and steady and don't have to brake or speed up nearly as much, which we also know promotes good fuel economy. I don't mind if my drive takes an additional 2-3 minutes, and I am not making excuses for the Focus, but for a small car, it is a blast to drive, just like the Jeep only a different kind of blast.

23,000 miles on my 05' and only minor issues. I had to have the glow plugs replaced because they kept tripping a CEL. That was fixed and the balljoints were replaced. That is the only thing it has been in the shop for, and my dealer is great here in Nashville. Still trying to get used to the noise compared to my 4.7L V8, but oh well I am getting almost double the mileage.

I asked my SM about swapping in a Euro manual trans some time back when I was in for my TC and he said, "Heck No!"

The wiring harness is different since the computer(s) needs to monitor the engine and trans. With the wrong trans the software is different as well as the physical connections. He said I'd be better off buying a Euro model and having it imported, although that may prove difficult too.

Once I got the TC fixed and the computer finally coughed up the EGR Flow Control Valve code (rather than the EGR code like first couple of times) mine is problem free. I am in next week to get my ball joints, F31, and routine maintenance just before I roll out of the 36,000 mile warranty. Putting on an AeroTurbine muffler and retro-fitting to a gasser air box at the same time.

Speaking of runnin' the wheels off our rigs, I picked the Jeeplet up on Halloween day last year with 700 miles on the clock and had it in the shop for two months (rear-ender 'cuz I was dumb and TC/EGR/overhead gauge installs). I'll still kill the warranty inside of a year. That's why I am quitting, but I digress...

Get the extended warranty. Money well spent for your peace of mind.

When I did my comparison of "nice" driving vs "maniac" driving driving my CRD:
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=12329&start=41
one time during the maniacal portion I was moving fast enough to be concerned about being ticketd. But, I was STILL getting passed. Crazy South Florida drivers.

My CRD doesn't care if I drive it like a granny or a Nascar driver. It always gets the same low 20s mileage. So, its either very efficient with fuel when given the Nascar treatment or very inefficient when driven sensibly.

Is the trans the same as the gasser ones? I was wondering about a manual swap too?
BTW 21000miles with no real issues or trips back to the dealer. I am too scared to have it flashed because they might mess it up.
