I just don't understand that OldNavy. I have changed mine twice without a Fumoto and haven't had any significant problems. I usually put the front up on jacks and keep it level port to stbd but after the sump is drined I raise the port side a couple of clickes about 2" higher than stbd to remove the4 filter. When I remove the filter I loosen until I get oil flowing and control the amount of flow so it doesn't go all over and then remove it after the oil drains out. It usually gets a little on the skid pan but a paper towel takes care of that and it's done. Now that I have the Fumoto it should be even easier and I won't get any on my hand. I am only changing it every 15K mi until I can get a bypass filter installed and then it will probably be 25K mi. or longer if I go with oil analysis.

I have the secret way! Just requires a sacraficial rag. I buy the small terry cloth rags in bulk as shop rags. When it's oil change time, I take a dirty one and lay it up between the skid and oil filter such that oil will hit it and run into my oil drain pan. (Kinda lay it out so oil flow will go where you want it.) This is after having already drained oil into the drain pan from the plug and plug has been replaced.

Filter off - dirty rag - clean jeep and skid! No drips on garage floor during or after the fact! Sometimes I can keep the oil off my hand as well.

Are you jacking up the front of the Jeep? If so be advised that there is a anti splash barrier in the pan that could hold as much as a quart or more if front of vehicle is rasied. In the photo below that gold thing is the drain plug, and you will note the size of area on either side. The filter is the only problem I have and I don't jack the Jeep up either to do the job.

However jacking up the driver side may help with keeping oil off the skids and cross member, I will have to check it out and see.
