Man some of you folks are running the wheels off the CRD, we bought ours the last week in Sept of '05 and as this morning it was still shy of 19,000 by about 300 miles.

However the wife has been making up for that the last couple of weeks, with about three more weeks of 140 miles each day of highway driving.

You finally passed me! I just crossed over 15,300 miles today. I'm back in the driver seat as my wife is starting to drive again and wants her van back. Looks like nap time for my CRD is over!

Thats because you made an offer to wallybob, and "the girls" thought they were going to loose Libby.
So if they keep driving it, they think you'll change your mind! :?

I thought you were still going to keep her in the family and give Libby to your daughter?

It was the wife wanting a Charger that had me thinking about selling the Jeep. To me it makes more sense to just keep the CRD and give it to the daughter to drive. Less dollar loss that way. I figure if we keep it about 5 to 6 years we got our money out of the rig.

The CRD has been averaging 26 mpg the last two tanks, that is with about 1/4 of the tank's being in town driving. The place where we are buying the fuel says they are on their second drop of ULSD and that they will probably pass the ULSD test by 1 st of January.

I still don't understand how you guys get such good mileage. Our best ever was a full tank of highway driving at 70mph and we got 22.5 mpg.

We average 17-18 mpg with 80% of that being city driving. Our fuel quality is top notch as we live near the citgo refinery

You need to slow down dude, speed kills mpg's. The speed limit where wife is driving is 60 mph and she drives the speedlimit or 5 mph over at most.

I guess that makes sense...if we take a trip we average 75-85 mph on the interstate around here usually as the speed limit is 70.

One side note is..I got 15 mpg pulling a 4000LB trailer..that was quite impressive

Try using the cruise control. I've found that on long trips it makes a noticeable difference in fuel economy.

I'm at around 16,000 miles now (purchased new in April '06). I usually get 22 - 23 mpg with mixed driving. Just took a trip to Nashville, TN and back and got 26 mpg on the way down and I suspect even better on the way back. I have 450 miles on the trip odometer now with a bit of fuel left....kind of exciting.

I can lock CC at 67 mph and get low 30's, but go over about 72 mph and the mpg's really drop off. Probably has to due mostly with aerodynamics' then anything, remember we are about as aerodynamic as cement block.
