I have not experienced it before myself but if there is enough air then it probably needs to be bled too, not just pumped. Can she go that?

It seems to me that you said this started after you changed the fuel filter, is that correct? That is another reason that fuel seem to be the culprit.

I think most of the leaks have occurred at the heater connection at the filter itself or the drain on the bottom or in the puck that is part of the head. Others have had issues back at the tank but I would be looking around the head if I were you if it started after a filter change.

Check the photo here: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=20219

The connector on the right in the picture with the red wires is the one that seems to leak,

 Well the saga continues.
Could it be like the VW TDI and possibly a stuck closed Anti-Shudder valve if the Motori is equipped with one??? Mind you, I theorize without seeing the condition of the intake but I believe the soot and crud build-up from the EGR system, depositing goo and sludge within my intake mani. Any body look inside their manifold lately??

Any thoughts are appreciated, before this VM Motori gets the Italian BOOT!!

The flow control valve does what the anti shudder valve on the tdi does and more. Do a search on the "ORM". You just unplug the MAF and it eliminates the electricaly operated FCV. But you'll want to make sure it's open otherwise it will stay closed.

cowcatcher, if you read back, this issue started just before I changed fuel filter for the first time. I was suspecting a bad batch of fuel. But since we didn't run 'er on errands afterwards I thought it was a fuel deliver issue and was content with my fix. BUT since then the problem has reoccurred numerous times to our frustration!! Soo, after getting to my stranded wife last eve, I found the FCV stuck CLOSED! Thanks Joe :D for the insight!! I removed the hose on the upstream side just touching the FCV butterfly and PING, it springs open! And yes, the intake hose is sooted and oiled just like my TDI before ORM.

Now I am researching the manuals to see if the valve (FCV) is being held closed electrically by a signal from the ECM or IF my suspicion of soot can physically hold valve (FCV) from from reopening after engine shutdown.

Mind you, this NO Start ONLY occurs after attempting restart of HOT engine, especially after frequent starts and stops.

Thanks :)

cowcatcher, we hope it is a start in the right direction. I need to figure out with certainty if the FCV is sticking from carbon and oil goo or something more electrical.

I really appreciate all your help :D

You might want to start a new topic regarding "FCV Fixes" or something similar as one or two others have experienced the same problem. There has to be a better solution than the finger flick method.

If you are following this topic, http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... 9&start=60, Turbo Tim is working on a solution that I believe disables the FCV and a few other add ons and looks like it will dramatically improve mileage and performance.

That is an excellent idea on starting a post about a FCV fix. Now if only I had an answer as to why this is happening to my CRD with certainty, i would gladly share my findings and resolution.

Even with the ORM the flow control valve still operates at engine shutdown, just not in conjunction with the EGR.
