CATCRD,

Got another question for you. What was the failure mode for the FCV under the P1140 code? Did it just stick open?

I have been driving with the code for a while now and the jeep seems to be driving ok.

Before the code even came on I noticed the plate was stuck open. I couldn't budge it without thinking I was going to break something. After a few weeks the CEL came on. The jeep still drove fine, just had more engine shake on shutdown.

What's weird is that I dropped in at the dealer when they were working on it - he had the FCV out and I took the plate and it moved easily. Maybe something was shorted inside it so that when it was plugged in it was constantly holding itself against the open stop. If so, that would explain why it burned out after a while.

High, Just so you know the P1140 is set to indicate an open in the FCV. I know this because I am trying to solve some problems with the P0401 and 299 codes. and it was suggest to deactivate the egr by unplugging the MAF sensor and the FCV. When I did this I got the P0102 code and the 1140. hope this helps someone, and oh on my chart it actually says the P1140 is transition time ratio bank 1 sensor 2.
