Well, I decided that I'm going to buy a 2000-02 F-250 Super duty diesel extended cab short bed 4x4. I really miss the truck I had before. I've looking for awhile now for one. The Liberty hasn't given me any trouble to speak of, I just want a truck. Hopefully I can get a $10,000 for a private sell for the CRD.

Wish you would have posted this epiphany two weeks ago when I needed my Jeep. I paid a bit more for mine without the toys. :(

The CRD is gone. I bought a 2001 F-250 Super Duty XLT 4wd w/ shift on the fly, manual locking back-up hubs, supercab, w/6speed manual, 7.3 powerstroke, 161k miles. Pulled my elantra back from north of Scranton, PA with the "rig". Got 18.5 mpg at 55-57 mph. Powerstroke was barely breathing at that speed. Love the power and towing ability. Slapped a new set on uniroyal liberater 10 ply AT's, repaired the AC for $19, change all the fluids and filters. Going to install a powertrax no-slip locker in the rear. Going to install "EHM " this weekend and clean intercooler and hoses. I've enjoyed the info/talk on this forum. Will be checking in from time to time. Thanks you!

Smart move. I had a 02 SD crew with the 7.3. Other than an occasional cam position sensor, that engine is bullet proof. By the way, it uses the same CCV setup as the Liberty and many people have gone 500k plus without a single problem other than oil residue on the cac tubes. Bottom line, it's a running machine. It's fun to slowly press the "gas" pedal at 70 mph and see how quickly it hits 90+. The only problem is it is easy to tow more than the F 250 can safely handle. It will pull anything u hook up to it, but the brakes, tires, axels, ect all have their limits.

I sold my CRD for many of the same reasons you did. I upgraded to a Yukon Denali XL and haven't looked back. It's fast as hell and you can get parts cheap at any local parts store.

Enjoy the Powerstroke! Check out thedieselstop.com

2nd thing I did was buy a camshaft sensor and put it in the glove box. 1st thing was to change the fuel filter and have a new spare in the truck along with a strap wrench. This truck to me is so much easier to work on then the Jeep was.
