This trans is more than strong enough for a stock engine or some tuning done to it. You can tow in any gear, IF the transmission is not hunting back and forth between gears. This is what causes the most heat and distroys the transmission. Towing with cruise on only if the trans can hold that gear. You need to get use to each towing application and know how our crd can handle the load and the grade. It may take a little trial and error( hopefully not to much!) to get use to it.
