I had the same symptoms as the OP, without the battery problems. Bypassed the AC cycling switch and I had cold air. So, thanks for the thread and to everyone who pitched in. My wife will be quite happy to have her AC back. Now to find a good deal on the part.

WWW.MOPARONLINEPARTS.COM has been the cheapest I've found...I just bought my timing belt parts/waterpump/thermostat all for under 600.00 shipped. Here's the link to the parts catalog: http://www.moparonlineparts.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214954

Here's a pic of that dang sensor. Looks like part #05170126AA FWIW. And just in time for what appears to be an unusually warm weekend here!

A/C Season is here. Haven't taken it in to the local shop yet. Any ideas? My loss of "coolness" seems too sudden to be a leak???

Never a good time, or a bad time for a leak. Any refrigeration system can leak new or old. Only way to find out is to put on a gauge and check the pressures. Is the compressor short cycling on the LP control?

Edit:

Should have read the entire thread, but the way those compressors short cycle in the winter with the heat on, I am not surprised the LP switch failed.

Glad you got it figured out. Hopefully this one will last longer. I noticed that regular parts stores like autozone carry that sensor when I was looking for pics online. If It goes out again, I'd try a different brand. Usually OEM is better quality than aftermarket though. Good luck! :)
