Actually - there is a lot of waste energy going out the tailpipe. Ideas are being floated all the time and auto and Over the Road (Big Rig) OEM's. My personal favorite is the 'turbonator' (not the turbo encabulator of that hilarious video) - a turbocharger driven alternator to squeak a little more energy back into a hybrid high voltage battery when the engine is running. 110,000 rpm alternators are tempermental beasts however.

Systems have been built and demonstrated by BMW and (I think) Eaton that raise the thermodynamic efficiency of the engine into the 40+% range.

Good lord, I am telling you unequivocally that you misunderstood my intentions in putting upgrade in quotes. I am sorry you misunderstood that as it probably helped set the tone for your two last posts. And I was not going to check Lovecraft out as if to buy it but to actually read the damage and scam, that you mentioned, as a result of the product. You are obviously not as good as decoding as you think you are, but I'm the one with the ego...I'm looking for the goofy graphic for peace-brother-handshake so imagine my hand out to you. I'll start over in a few weeks or months when I have something more worthy to contribute. now I'm off again to try to figure out how much to sell my perfectly good VW for. I'll check back in a bit and see who else I pissed off.

Yeah...I'm not sure what the issue here is. On some days, there are just some members having a bad day and it gets manifested into a keyboard grudge match. There has been an instance or two in the past were someone offered to fab something up, collected money, and then never delivered the goods. So, as you read the various threads, of which most are of great value while some are not, you'll see much vigilance in ferreting out scams and other improprieties.

There is on occasion a new member who will start posting and then offering things for sale...guy with an Amsoil franchise did this a few months ago. Nothing wrong with their products and it's great there are many options out there for our CRDs and other vehicles. What people took issue with was the infomercial-like posts which led to a bit of flaming. Though a few feathers were ruffled initially, that member contributes as much as any other valued member to the forum.

So, now that the hazing is complete, welcome to the forum. As we are own on technicians and mechanics, there isn't any such thing as a person who knows too much about this vehicle on here.

As is probably obvious from the above, don't believe the hype about "water as fuel" or para-hydrogens or special fuel catalysts. If you're looking for a few more mpg's, your money is better spent on a tune or other goodies for the Jeep. It looks as if there is a another group buy forming for the GDE tune. INmotion offers them as well. I have a no-limit Eco tune from GDE and I'm liking it...I've easily gained 10% in mpg in mixed driving...may get better once my foot loses some weight.

Just for fun, ask them for the number of their patent application. It's published in the public record 1 year after filing. It would be interesting to see their claims and examples.

Patent applications are published 18 months after filing unless the applicant requests non-publication of the application. In that case, it would only be published if it was allowed.

The claims of a pending application might mean very little, as most claims are amended during the prosecution phase. Anyone can file anything with extremely broad claims, but that does not guarantee the claims will issue (if allowed) as originally filed.

I get lost in the semantics some times. We tend to go the provisional route followed by the actual application resulting in publication 2.5 years from the priority date. We usually try to have ours pretty much finalized at the beginning with an open-mind that we may have to remove or narrow some claims. As you pointed out, the claims may be written in such a way that they are useless in terms of providing information. Examples aren't required, but certainly strengthen an application. If the specification is written well, it could convince an examiner to allow all kinds of interesting claims. Unfortunately, things are so backed-up at the patent office that it takes about 4 years after the publication date for anything to get reviewed.

I just get annoyed by the "patent pending" clause that's attached to all kinds of hokey things. It's only there to "con" gullible consumers into thinking a product is something special. I'd just like to see proof every now and again that there is an actual "patent."

x2

If you want to try something on your lawn mower (I know, gasser), this costs $1.37.
He is probably still running on tank gas but it caught my attention.
Kind of gas vaporizer rather than atomizer.

Again: he is probably running on tank gas but as soon as I dig $1.37 out of the couch, I might give it a try.

The OP links to a site where you can watch a video for their revolutionary new FUL product. "SCAM" would be the kindest thing I could say about it.
Well, no, I guess I could also say it is "mildly entertaining" in a  sort of way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvTq_zDeIMw&feature=player_embedded

The website, however, does have the distinction of being one of the few where even the qualifications are horribly distorted. And this is sneaky because a lot of people assume the qualifiers are the "truth" behind the exaggerations. In this case, we have:

** Actual results vary from vehicle to vehicle. Test results range from 16% to 35% depending on make and model car.

16% is the lowest I can expect!? Woa! Hell, I'd take 5%.
Incredible.

These kinds of products have been around for a while but their increasing popularity is a combination of the rising cost of fuel and the sorry state of science education in this country. We are becoming ever more desperate and ever more gullible.
