Time for the next installment of "Where's My Torque Converter". When we last met, Dealer # 1 severed all communication. Dealer # 2 was presenting my case to the Overlords at Chrysler.
Dealer # 2 got back to me today with an answer. In short, it was NO.

An emphatic NO.

Dealer 2 was perplexed. He does not understand the rational. I was advised by dealer 2 to call Chrysler's Customer Care line, aka the NO factory. Of the 3 people I talked to, 1 was only to take the information and start a claim. The other 2 were to address my concerns and deny my requests for another solution. The only reason (so far as I can tell) for not approving a Euro spec converter is policy not engineering. I have not only been denied proper service for my vehicle, I have been told in no uncertain terms the only way I will get a Euro converter is if I pay for it and the install myself. Talk about customer service. Hmmmmmm........
When I ask for a written copy of this response to be E-mailed to me, I was told that they will not and it is not required of them. Hmmmm.......
I have even made the point that it costs them around $1300 parts, labor, and rental vehicle every time this service is done. That fixing it properly would be a cost benefit to THEM, as this will be the third time in six months. But alas, it was to no avail. They must stick to the script. Apparently it is not realized that customer satisfaction = customer loyalty = repeat sales =healthy corporate bottom line.
I am supposed to get a call from the next layer of bureaucracy tomorrow. I'm hoping to get a free thinker. Here's hoping.
