The shift from 1st to 2nd is some where between 2,000 and 2,500 most of the time for me. Over time it will start to shift a little lower, but the Ram is a bigger vehicle and it has the engine rev up a little more than a CRD. When I had the Retarded F-37 TCM it would typical shift around 2500 when I did a moderate acceleration. Where you will save is driving back roads that have speed limits that are between 45MPH and 55MPH. Having the engine go up to 2500 RPM for the first shift is a very small compromise for not being stuck forever in 5th with out a lock up. To borrow a little from Mexican Culture worrying about the few seconds you are in 1st is centavo wise and peso foolish. You want to maximize your time in 5th lock.
