IIRC the replacement of 7/70 with 3/36 was across the board for DCJ. I know it applied to both diesel and gas KJs.

Has anyone ever acttually seen a writen and documented life expectancy for the US formated 2.8L i know i have seen one for the european model and and it was posted on here. But i have never seen one for the US model and probably never will. But all in all i just wonder how much testing was done on this motor after all the EAP components were added. It is like my firends 2007 cummins it went through 3 turbos before the end of its warranty period and finally on the last one they sent a factory mechanic down to see what was going on with the truck. By the end of it all they had replaced turbo number three and done a "factory modification" to the truck. The truck ran great from then on no more turbo issues. But the factory modification later on was confirmed by a diesel specialist to of been stripping the guts out of the EGR system. Now with that being said if the Dodge knows this to be and issue and even send a factory mechanic down to solve this issue in this fashion shouldn't that tell us something.

It's going to be interesting to see how many miles some of these engines will have years from now.

I bought my CRD brand new with the expectation that I'd take the machine to 250,000 miles or more. I had no idea about the EGR issue until my rockers failed. With a GDE tune (arriving next week I hope), I still hope to take it to 250,000 miles. That having been said, I'm feeling particularly bitter towards Chrysler. I wonder how much they knew and whether they committed fraud, and I will think long and hard before ever touching another Chrysler product. I will also be sure to resolve any EGR issues on any other diesels I purchase.

I put substantial blame on the EPA as well, as I think the EGR regulations are short sighted at best. I travel to Europe often, and it's amazing what they do with tiny diesel engines (1.0 - 1.3l) and how long they last, but we'll never have that until the regulations change. Nevertheless, Chrysler chose to offer a product that seems doomed to fail unless it's modified.
