I got an advance auto parts Gold Lead acid battery with 800CCA not long after I purchased my Jeep about 4 years ago. It failed after the 36 month free replacement warranty was up but still had some prorated time left that allowed be to the a new one for half the current cost. I originally Paid about $110 for the first one. The battery works fine till just over 3 years. my experience has been if you seem to think its not starting as fast as it should get the battery tested. If they say its ok and won't give you a warranty replacement like they did to me carry jumper cables because it your battery will fail to start the Jeep and it will be on a day its either hotter or colder than it was in a while too. Then once it fails to start the Jeep it will fail the test at the store.

Seems I am locked it to this warranty Game with Lead acid batteries

Interesting, I'll have to look into that next time.

FYI: If you have a Costco around you, they don't jerk you around on the replacements. I believe the warranty with them is 48 months, but don't quote me on that.

Advance is an 84 month prorated warranty with a 36 month free replacement period. they did jerk me around when I went to get a replacement at the first store I went to where I purchased it. The issue was I had a receipt for it but it was very faded and the date could not be read. They tried finding the purchase in the computer but they don't store those things past 2 years so the info was gone as to the exact date I bought it. I asked if we could use the manufacture date that was stamped on the battery but the manager refused, said I could by a new one and that is all. I used a few colorful metaphors, said I would never go back to that store again and left. I was thinking that could not be right so I went to a different store location and explained it to the store manager there. She said they get many complaints about the other store manager and promptly replaced my battery under warranty.

That stinks about the warranty problem at the first store. We don't have those around here but we do have Autozones. I've used their "Gold" Duralasts in other vehicles (the tops seem to be black now instead of yellow). The warranty is good, but I'm batting 1,000 with having them replaced at around 2 years. They don't seem to do to well with prolonged inactivity. That being said they were both swapped out no problem without a receipt (info was kept in the computer at different stores in different counties). YMMV

I have an Autozone Gold Duralast in my RV and have for 7 years. Thing just keeps chuggin' along. We do have a smart charger that we rotate which battery gets charged (motor, house and generator), though.

I replaced my optima with a Sears platinum and crossed it off my list of crap to worry about.
