WOW! 90° seems ridiculous. In the mid to high 30s ambient I'm around 50-60° IAT, hitting 90° or a lil over on a full throttle takeoff.
To be fair though I'm using a different turbo than the factory so maybe that's where the difference is. Plus I also flushed out my intercooler to get as much effectiveness as possible from it.
Hmmm....so...90 degrees is high? Okay folks...what should the increase be from ambient? You owe this to the turbo fan or the Intercooler? Sasquatch does sell a different turbo fan. Would that help? What am I dealing with here? I will run the ScanTool again to check out the delta.
What you posted is just a snapshot of a brief moment and doesnt really tell the whole story.
That 90 deg IAT reading could be normal depending on certain conditions.
Too many variable to know if something is wrong.
Try taking a reading first thing in the morning when engine is cold. IAT should be close to ambient temps. Then take a reading while driving, engine fully warmed up, and cruising at a steady speed.
I would say that normally your IAT should be 20-30 deg higher than ambient but if your engine is fully warmed up, just idling and not moving (no air flow through intercooler) IAT can be much higher. If you A/C is on, IAT will be higher.
Especially if you shut it down and then started it back up 20 min later, heat soak will definitely make your IAT much higher.
But once you get moving again and air is flowing through the intercooler, IAT should come back down.
My IAT reading this morning, engine fully warmed up:
ambient temp: 55 deg F
cruising at 60 mph: 76 F
accelerating up a hill: 100 F
stopped at traffic light: 85 F
cruising at 40 mph: 72 F
