Go to jeep.com, click on "certified pre-owned". Choose a wide radius (300 mi or "any") from your zip code, choose 2005 model year only, and see the results. Sort the list to show highest priced first. The only place you see the diesels is on the top of the list. Some are very close to what I paid last year new (but with discount), and definitely above your usual $5k drop off.

Time for an emoticon: :P

WOW!! I just did this and nothing came up with in 300 miles, then the closest one was about 1500 mi from me in MI. Then I only came up with 4 diesels and yes they were real close to what I gave for mine after my discounts. Hope they hold their value like that for the life of the Jeep.

Come on Old Navy at yours and mine ages, you know a lease is nothing but a fleece.
The only way to buy is at 2-3 years old and with cash, but one of these days maybe I will do that, but
not a lease.

Buying at 2 to 3 years old with no warranty for some people would not be an option as they don't feel safe in the purchase. I have a MD. friend who buys new and trades at end of warranty period. Others I know have seek the pease of mind in the lease that ends at the termanition of the warranty period. Myself in the past I would buy new and drive it 10 years or so, before trading or buying again. Nowdays I doubt that I will be driving much more then 10 to 15 years at most, so I have been thinking about the lease program just to have a new playtoy every couple of years. The new Chrysler lease incentives are enticing, but the the old lease bugaboo keeps me from making that move.

Ripster I am thinking about buying either a new Sprinter diesel van with the new normal height roof that is due in '07, or the Jeep GC diesel. But I still cast a roving eye at a 98/99 MB 300D.
