According to DC, the fuel/water filter is a 10 micron type, so the 5 is good enough for now. They may have put a 3 on some, but not on his or mine either. A 1 or 2 micron filter is scheduled in the next upgrade on the system that's used to filter the fuel.

HUH? According to the FSM, it's 3 micron.

Who/when did you talk to at DC that says it's a 10 micron filter?

If Bosch is really that adamant about protecting their injection system, I just can't see them letting DC get away with only a 10 micron filter.

But if you're right, then I'm bloody glad I added in the 2 micron ahead of it!

I am really confused by this statement:
Quote:
At present, he can't make any biodiesel because 2 of the components, lye & methanol, are also used to make "meth". He's an honest law abiding citizen that doesn't want any complications with the local authorities.

You can't make biodiesel because two of the ingredients are also used to make Meth? That's absurd. I buy diesel and fertilizer too? What does that make me?

The old diesels will burn just about anthing - expecially the old inline injection pumps. Common rail requires more attention.

For what it's worth.

........................and some of the guys over on the TDR & DTR websites think I'm nuts "wasting" $11.65 for a Fleetguard FS19579 Fuel Filter for my 2003 Dodge RAM 2500 HPCR CTD every oil change (7500---8000 miles) instead of the Schedule A's recommendation of 15k miles.....

Could not have said it better myself, TDICRD58.

One of the guys in the parts department at the dealership I go to. I was there about 3 weeks ago ordering the new filter & he read it off the parts information on his computer. I hope he wasn't jerking me around. If the filter is a 3 micron, then the 1 micron final polishing filter needs to be added to the filtration system as soon as possible. Right now, blend production in on hold due to my brother & I having to attend family matters that require immediate attention.

You're just somebody that buys diesel fuel & fertilizer

Actually, I should've said won't. My brother does have some eccentric ways, but it's his choice not to make the biodiesel. The police in our area are really hot & heavy about meth labs, plus people around are not known for being open minded to new ideas like biodiesel. (Some of these folks here live in the Dark Ages & belive the sun revolves around the earth. It's sometimes hard to deal with ignorant, closed minded folks.) If we had friends or family members within the local law enforcement community, then I don't think Donald would feel like he does about making the biodiesel. For now, we'll just keep making & using the "blend".

OK, now THAT I understand. I can't make it my neighborhood because the neighbors would freak over the smell of old grease.

Glad I was able to explain it better.
