Warpped! Who ever said I worked with 18 wheelers? They don't have enough processor based systems to interest me. You don't have a clue? And that is all you need to know.

If you are so smart. Why are you asking how to change a torque converter in a Jeep Forum? :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

BTW, take out the bolts before you try to remove the trams, you might break something otherwise. :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

That is of course you have a way to beam it out, use a force field to hold in the oil, and beam your Virgin Mopar back in. :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

Go for it, we all know Einstein committed calculation errors based on assumptions and Tesla has been proven to be right.

Warpped,

Unlike you I like getting different opinions and ideas on doing things. I have found that the best way to learn from others is to allow them to show you how to do something, even if you already know how to do it yourself. Every tech doesn't go through the exact same steps to do the same job. So I started this thread to see what others did or thought so I might learn something new. I liked most of the input I received. Much I already knew but welcomed the comments and communications. But not your nonsense of my way or the highway. You bully or pick fights when you can't win a discussion. Your a bully and I won't give a bully an inch. So your attacks on me are pointless. You enjoy your toys for what you see in them, Now leave me alone and enjoy your toys. This is my thread and your not getting the last word here. :goink: :goink: :goink:

The reason you feel the firing resonance (vibrations) being dampened with the Suncoast converter is that the increased mass is causing the engine to experience more load under acceleration and decceleration. It is also slightly decreasing the fuel efficiency. This increased load is caused by the higher kenetic energy transfer for the same change in rotational velocity. Better or new mounts can give the same dampening effect on vibrations being transmitted through the chassis.

This VM engine is a smaller version of the Detroit Diesel 50 series engine. The low mass flywheel (flexplate) design used with our Liberties has been used very successfully in the mass transit bus fleets for over a decade. The only fleet vehicle under a more distructive operating environment is a trash truck.

I'm not impressed with the Suncoast converter. I want a new converter as used by jeep in the current CRD's being produced and shipped overseas. I will pay the money for a new one when I find it. I don't like reman converter units due to material fatigue issues. I also don't want to increase the loading on my engine as does the suncoast converter. What is the mass of a Suncoast converter and an OEM converter? What is the fluid volume for each converter. The Suncoast may have a greater mass and stonger construction, but how efficient is it compared to the OEM?

Wouldn't the Suncoast be more efficient due to a lower stall speed(1200RPM)? I sure notice my motor pull harder at lower RPM now that I do not have a stock TC with a 2200RPM stall speed...

No. The efficiency has to do with the energy input and output not when the force is applied. Stall speed for torque converters is the rpm at which the tires start to turn. Dependent on your application and engine output curves is how you decide what is best for your application. If you want more control on pulling or by being able to apply less power to the wheels to reduce wheel slip ok, lower would be better. But then you end up wanting more power available at the lower rpm range of your engine and start to mess with the engine. This torque control (or torque reduction) also can be done with your gear ratio of the trans, rear diff or drop axle if you have one. Tire size can also effect this. I do highway driving most, but want the ability to go off road or through heavy snow so I'm fine with my set up. Fuel enconomy is what I desire most. If I wanted true off road ability I would have bought a wrangler or Humvee and to tow I like my RAM. But you can set up your CRD anyway you want and it is all good. You may enjoy the art of setting your rig up to get the most pleasure.

If you think I am a bully, Dr. Charles Crowdhammer or one of his colleagues could give you some advise that is not Political in nature.
Since you repeatedly resort to name calling and insults, your argument has no basis and if anyone is a bully, it is you.

BTW, none of there threads belong to you they are LOST threads. :grim: :grim:

GoodCRD, good luck finding your Virgin Euro Torque Converter, check out eBay.
For every one else too: Just don't bid if the sellers user name resembles the word Subaru with the b & a left out, he is a troll who sells before he has it and strings you along keeping your money.

To the OP: While I understand the desire to do preventative maintenance, I feel replacing the torque convertor as a PM item is a waste of money and time. There are lots of folks who have well over 100k on their stock torque convertor without any issues.

If it were me, I'd hold onto the torque convertor. Once you have slipping, shuddering, or other problems, then go ahead and replace it. The torque convertor should give you plenty of warning when it is failing. I'd also install a shift kit, ensure you have the upgraded front pump, and then replace with the torque convertor of your choice.

I've got 113k miles on my stock convertor. My GDE Eco tune is helping preserve its life by limiting torque at lower rpms (makes up for it at rpms above 2k rpm with extra torque/hp). I also change the fluids/filter every 50k or so miles and throw in some lubeguard for good measure.

If you do replace it, please let us know what your oil analysis finds. I doubt you'll find many insolubles in it since our tranny has 2 filters, a pickup pan filter and a screw on filter. I do not work or represent Suncoast in anyway and I hope to never be a customer of theirs meaning I intend to milk my stock torque convertor for many more miles.

Good luck and please share with us what you eventually do. If, and when, mine fails, I'll probably go with the Suncoast based on the multiple favorable reports here and other forums. Suncoast is a reputable company that listens to its customers and is fairly quick to make changes to improve their designs.

OK (or KO if you chose sides) so we've heard about Suncoast, OEM and euro TC. has anyone installed an ATS diesel TripleLok? While they are pricey, I have read a few good reviews, but nothing I would consider without bent.
