In the last month:
Replaced fuel filter head with upgraded unit. No leak on the original head but needed a filter change so the time was right.
Replaced battery with a NAPA 850CCA
Upgraded to GDE full torque tune

Well This week I did my TB and order more parts from IDparts which should be here this week. Also installed my new Pioneer stereo, did an oil change, changed the fuel filter, and hope to replace the rear control arms this week as well. Hope everyone has a great and SAFE New Years. Take care all.

I'll post in the right thread now. :jester:

Got the GDE ECO FT uploaded and what a difference. Engine is quieter, obviously more power. Really surprised its thatuch quieter. The turbo whistle is more pronounced. :D

Gonna have to drive around and burn some fuel for no apparent reason except to see the mileage difference. :JEEPIN:

New engine mounts on the sport, both of the old ones rattled. Also found the top nut on my passenger side loose, so this fixed the driveline clunk I had going on as well. Ripped the clean air hose in the process, new one on order.

I started the TB job, got the new WP put in and I finally got the TB on the tensioner... when... stripped the bolt out. Never reached 26ft/lbs and it just got easier. It pulled what looks like heli-coil spiral out of the block. Looks like I will try replacing it with heli-coil tomorrow (parts stores closed)

Overall using sirsam's video things went smoothly, getting the TB on took up most of my time. Hopefully I will get this wrapped up tomorrow and install the new thermostat.

On a side note, it looked like I had quite a lot of build up inside the coolant system (the bleed valve and expansion tank specifically) so maybe a cleaning/flush is in order, not just a fluid replacement.

The helicoil worked, found out the bolt I used on the tensioner was 5mm too short (It was out of the water pump I think!) So I reused the one out of my old tensioner and everything is looking good! Going to start it up and wrap up tonight!

Arengant, I would be interested to know approximately how many miles and years were on the old coolant?

This data goes to my VM data charts.

99k on engine, I drained and refilled (using Zerex g-05) about half the system when I did my inline tstat at about 80k (at that time I did not notice any residue). I would suspect the previous owner did not change it, so it should be original coolant. The coolant itself looks good, there is just a film I can see/feel when I run my finger inside the overflow tank and air bleed valve on the top of radiator. It is whiteish-pink (pink coolant) in color, not gummy like if I had oil in the system.

Drove it to work today!

"rinsed" the coolant system after the TB job with about 7 gallons of water (3 drain/refill) and one bottle of prestone flush (citric acid)

Replaced upper and lower radiator hoses while I was at it also (with gates) The lower one has a coil spring as OEM, but the gates does not. I was able to swap over the braided cover easily though!

Oh, and an oil change!

I should be good for a while now!

(PS, thanks to Geordi and Sirsam for the TB help!)

Nice! I love the look of factory stereos, but a better performing one would be great!

My OEM coolant had about 60k miles at tb change and it looked clean. Mechanic (Sam) suggested it could be filtered and put back in. I had 2 gals. Zerex G-05 and we put it in. I wonder if this could be on of the 'variables' that cause cooling problems. . .. head gasket leaks.

There was zero buildup or gunk in the cooling system with the bright pink stuff. I wish I'd put the same stuff back in.
May do it anyway when the weather warms up.

Oh, today I drove it up the mountain for a day of snowboarding.

Mine's bad enough to warrant a new expansion tank (at least) next coolant change

The limited was sputtering and bucking the other day, so I just changed the fuel filter.

Bought the LTD new soles, Michelin Latitude Tour. I know they are not macho 4x4 tires, but I am sick of the short life you get out of SUV tread, and the noise they some times develop. My CRD is going to have to get pretty old and ratty before I run it through the trails any ways.

I finally got my roof rails cut off this weekend. Iv been meaning to do it for a year and a half, but never really had time. I ran out of stuff to do to the new MJ Sunday, so I figured it was as good a time as any. :pepper:

Bilstein HD shocks at all four corners.
I cannot believe how much better the Jeep drives!
The factory suspension at 113,xxx miles had lost compression damping but still had rebound damping resulting in the suspension "pumping down".
No wonder it felt so "tippy" driving through freeway curves.
I can now stay with freeway traffic rather than slowing through sweeping turns.
Rides well and corners surprisingly well for a tall (to me) vehicle.
