Wow... I respect that you do this commercially, but that is WAY more cycles than I have ever done, and I have never had a compressor get borked from water contamination - even in the swamp that is Florida.

Pag oil doesn't have to only come from the dealer (if they even carry it) any auto parts store will have it in the AC section. Medium viscosity should be fine.

He does it commercially, so he should know most of this is not necessary. I, too, know my way around an AC system, and a lot of that is foolish. Just replace the dryer, vacuum it down for about an hour, and refill to spec. It is not rocket science...

In fairness, one callback will eat up a professional's profit for the whole day, not just for that one job. I can understand the belts and suspenders approach.

You are right..it is not rocket science...it is another branch of physics...thermodynamics to be specific.

You are entitled to your opinion. I spend half my week fixing problems caused by others who think procedures are not necessary and foolish or just don't plain know any better. Automotive A/C is more forgiving than many systems, but it is not my money, so people can spend their money how they wish. May come back to bite them, may not, but keeps me employed.
