For me,
I was able to make replacement #3 TC shutter in 5th, 4th, and 3rd gears. For a witness, I had a Technical Adviser from Chrysler, and believe it or not that TC was less than inside of six months. It was only a month old.

Weather was bad here today so the driveway garage was closed. I did however take it for a little test drive. It seems that when I am at highway speed and things sound bad if I shift to neutral the noises back way off. Seems that this is happening while the drivetrain is "working".
If this had to happen I just wish it was in August :( .

The way I knew I had a bad TC was this simple test. Drive up to 62 mph let it go into final OD with full TC lockup. Slow down to about 58 mph and set the cruise. You should still be in full TC lock up. Now point it up a reasonably steep grade and let the cruise maintain your speed. Under this type of load mine would shutter bad. Tap the brake / cancel the cruise and it will stop the shutter right away.

If you do have this same condition, you can probably drive it till spring if you drive in such a way as to largely prevent the shutter.

Thanks Woodtick
When I first purchased and picked up my Libby I spent my first 20 minutes as a new Jeep owner coming to the sad realization that mine came with no cruise control.
Talk about shock.
I get a vibration in the front end....That's my first clue that trouble is coming. The faster I go the worse things get.
It is really tuff to isolate where the noises are coming from.
I am gonna have to get in the back with the MRS. driving and start from there.
I think I hear noises from the rear but with the vibrations that are happening it's hard to say.
Although like I said it's while pushing the pedal either accelerating or just to maintain speed.
Deceleration or neutral is way better :? .
Thanks again
AL

Al,
you can still achieve the same test results I described by feathering the throttle rather than cruise control. Cruise kind of dummy proofs (me) this test. :dizzy: The same is also true if trying to accelerate from the lowest end of 5th gear lock up as hard as you can without unlock/ downshift occurring.

As difficult as it is to do, give your full attention to isolate one thing at a time, while disregarding other sounds/ vibrations that are unrelated but still annoying. It's what I had to do and it is tough to accomplish. To be honest I had my Pa as another critical ear/ eye to help me zero in on how to make a problem occur consistently. The if a service writer/ mechanic visit is in your future they won't think your completely nuts because you can make it replicate the problem even if they can't.

This has been my experience.

All better now. Rear U joint was the problem. When I put my glasses on I could see 1 bad arm. Phew !! :P
On a side note the airbox hose is $81.00 plus tax and shipping. That's nasty for a chunk of rubber. :?
Thanks for all the advice folks.
