I think some of the problems we are having come from the US programming. I suspect we are running more EGR, different timing and who knows what else. I wonder about the feasibility of flashing to E-spec or just plain swapping the 'puter. Any thoughts? |

ECU swap out for EURO spec has been done on the VW TDI diesels, don't know why you could not do it to the Jeep.

The dealer accidently downloaded the Euro update to my ECU. They realized what they had done, erased it, then downloaded & installed the update for the US Liberty. So far, no CEL since last Thursday. |

If DC's treatment of the ECM programming process relating to Jeeps w/CRD's is similar to what Dodge does with Cummins, it won't work. With Dodge & Cummins, the proprietary programming is VIN specific. On the 2nd GEN 24V CTD's, a simple ECM replacement was no big deal; find a new or used ECM, install, connect wiring harnesses, and boom...you're done. With the onset of the 3rd GEN HPCR CTD's, a "blank" ECM is purchased and programmed via STAR and the DRB systems.....the VIN must be input in order for the truck to even start. Jeep could be set up differently..........then again, maybe not. Greg |

Someone with a really close relationship with their dealership and mechanic would have to try it on the side for testing purposes only of course. |

I may have to return to the dark side, once I wear out my daily driver. |
