| Post subject: | Seeking some input on Magnaflow for CRD |
I am trying to get some feedback on the Magnaflow cat back exhaust system for my CRD. I have a few questions for the people who may already have this on their CRD. 1) Is there a noticable change in sound? I would like to keep it near stock if possible. 2) Has it caused any problems as far as throwing any codes with the sensors and whatnot? 3) How is the fit, is it just a bolt on, or is any modification required, and if so, where to? 4) Does it allow a noticable amount more exhaust out? In other words did it really open the exhaust up? 5) If any sensors are required to be placed in the new pipe, are the holes/mounting points already there? Thanks for the help. |

1) No. The sound is almost the same. I have 3,000 miles on mine and no changes noticed from inside. 2) No codes. No problems. 3) Fit is perfect. Same cat-back for the gasser as the CRD. 4) Well, heat, yes. On the stops during long highway miles from Minot, ND to Watertown, WI I couldn't even stand in line with the exhaust near the pipe it was so hot. It really flows compared to stock. 5) N/A. Nothing like it anywhere on the cat-back system. Advice: BUY IT! You will really like it!

I have the Magnaflow system on my CRD and it's great. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... ight=15870 1. The exhaust note is a tad louder than normal, but not by much. No drone at any highway speeds, either. 2. No MIL codes since installation. 3. It's a direct bolt-in. I did have to tweak the rear most hanger on mine; not sure if it was bent a little or if it wasn't welded on correctly. 4. The muffler is a straight thru design; there's lots more exhaust flow coming out the tailpipe. 5. No sensors need to be relocated as it's cat back (best I remember, there's no sensors near the cat) Greg |

It's not like a big rice fart-cannon. It is pretty normal looking, not too obtrusive. You can always remove the tip and have a stainless mandrel bent elbow put on in its place. I don't dislike enough to do all of that...

It really looks good. I like the stainless tip. Two questions: The tip looks like it's real close to the plastic bumper. Have you noticed any kind of heat damage or discoloration on the plastic bumper? Have you noticed a performance and/or mileage increase? |

I have not found any heat damage to the plastic yet. It seems the tip is double-layered so I don't think it gets as hot as the rest of the system. I'm not sure about the milage; it may be slightly better than before. I best advantage of the system may be the ability to get the heat out and let the motor breathe better. |
