I feel better about myself this week .. seems doing a good deed makes you feel good.

Making my way up to our trailer ( we have what I like to call a single.5 wide in a trailer park with dock spot), I came across some gents in a bit of a bind. Seems they wanted to get some sand for the kids at their cottage. There is a bend in the back road that has a pretty big chunk of sand. Most paople here use it for sandbox replenishment, no big deal.

What they didn't consider was the weight of the trailer tongue and the effects on the rear wheels as they parked on the sand itself. When they went to pull out, they buried the rear wheels up to the axle.

They mentioned they had been there for 1/2 hour trying to dig themselves out and only succeeded in getting worse stuck. I pulled the bike hitch and bikes off, put the hook into the receiver, and slipped the recovery strap under their truck ( a full size Dodge two wheel drive thing )

I slipped the CRD into 4lo and was prepared to give it a good yank to pull em free when to my surprise the Jeep just idled them right out of the hole, I didn't even have to pull it higher than a grand on the tach. I am very impressed with the torque on the truck and can't wait to go wheeling officially. I'm waiting for another truck to go with or the funds to get myself a winch as getting stuck myself and waiting is not my idea of fun. I have a 4wd beater blazer and the Brother-in-law has one, it's just getting the timing right I guess.

ok all that said, anyone else have a feel-good recovery story they would care to share?

-Tim

Is your name Earl by any chance?
I always carry a rope with me to pull other drivers out, especially handy with the snowstorms we get up here, I know how powerfull the CRD is, pulled out a tree stump 2 years ago without even feeling a thing.
