| Post subject: | Extra engine part? |
I finally popped the engine cover and found an unattached part lying on the manifold. It was a fairly large RUBBER BAND. Anybody got any ideas about which assy it belongs to? Maybe that is the very rubber band that is needed to make this thing go off the line faster? I also noticed that the CCV hose had not been installed correctly, as about 1/4 of the hose edge was bent under. It hadn't leaked but it may now that I have put it on without the crimp. I would take it to the dealer for a new hose but they might not be able to replicate the condition. It may have been designed that way as the turned under edge was thinner. It was quite clean under there at 2500 miles and the engine cover is a good idea I expect. I can see how the air intake for the air box could put water in the box and will read OldNavy's fix again. Someday I hope to buy something that I don't have to find fixes for. |

The first time I lifted my cover there was also a rubber band about 3/8" wide, assumed it was packing. On another note my dealer hooked me up by leaving the oil cap loose. This was the reason for removing the cover. After 600 miles there was a 1/4" of oil in the valleys to the passenger side of the pour spout Five star dealers Rock!! |

Still have mine in the garage on the bench, wrapped around the power cord for the Dremmil Tool. |

Amazing: the rubber band is standard issue. OldNavy: thanks but if it isn't leaking, I'll just plug it when I do the CCV mod. How is your new CCV filter coming along? I am tempted just to run a new hose to a bottle under the vehicle, like the Dodge Cummins did for several years. I'm sure they would mount a new hose under warranty, I just hate to go to the dealer again. I also need the fabric water spot TSB done but I doubt it would do any good. I may just leave it as I'm not putting any miles on it (5k per year) and check out a GC with the diesel. I imagine it will be very pricey but dunno. They'd certainly have to put a warranty on that engine cause I'm not going through the CRD warranty junk again. I hope you are correct about more diesels coming down the line in more vehicles. I hope someone other than DC steps up. I did see a note that the VW SUV v-10 diesel wil be back late 2007 or 2008. Probably be very expensive. |

Try some Resolve Carpet Cleaner - it takes them right out. |

Groucho - Your signature is misspelled. Sorry... AllJeep - Reslove carpet Cleaner, you say? Hope you are right, I am tired of imaging the things people say when they gaze in my driver window to check out the Jeeplet and see the dripping condensate stains on my seat (between my legs, very tough to explain...) |

Spell it like I say it. Like Foad. Gradually, the "new" spelling will work its way Noath. There is a TSB for the seat stain if you want to take the time. Your friendly dealer should take care of it for you. TSB 23-015-06 Dated 3/09/06 Right now I'm thinking how cum I didn't get 3 rubber bands? I wish DC would get it right! |

You must have gotten 'the other' Warranty Book folks are talking about - ours says Three Rubber Bands come standard... good thing since we only have the 3/36... |
