I have a friend who has a jetta tdi. We talk about the cars alot and she mentioned reading the tdi site on Edmunds. I spent a few minutes looking over the site. It is just amazing. Its just like this site with the same questions/complaints/whining/advice etc on fuel quality, sulphur, USLD, intake clogging, oil type& viscosity, cost of oil change, etc.

I especially recommend it to people who worry about their CRD. If VW owners (who are driving an engine that started out in 1977) are having the same issues as CRD owners, maybe it will make you feel better about the Jeep. Since the questions/comments/complaints are the same that means there is nothing unusually wrong or odd with the Motori engine design.

I guess in other words "misery love company" or as the germans would say "schaudenfraud"

Ditto to what Old Navy said :!: One difference is my 99.5 jetta tdi threw it's first code at 113,000 miles and then was fixed by reseating a glow plug connector  Also the intake manifold was pretty clogged at 60k miles but it's cleanable :D Also my transmission was very reliable without the shudder at 55 mph
