How long have you been waiting for EGR parts that are on national back order? Going on 3 weeks for me.

Last July, I waited 10 days. But the CRD was just out in its first model year then.

To dealer yesterday need a new one at 28,800 miles. Mostly highway miles, Drie it like I stole it at least once a day and a Provent since 4,000. We'll see how long it takes the dealer in Salmon, ID to get one.

Whats the latest on egr delivery times? Being in the market for one, I suddenly find renewed interest? Still at 4 weeks?

EGR still died with a provent. Thats not good.

Same here. Put my Provent on in April/May 2005 at 2500 miles. Egr failed at 8K. Replacement now throwing failure codes at 21K miles. While the Provent clearly does succeed at keeping excess oil out of the intercooler, hoses and intake system, the egr issue isn't resolved by an effective auxillary ccv. However, the Provent or similar ccv will save on expensive intercooler/intake/cylinder cover cleanings later on down the road. If anyone thinks they are running just fine with just the factory system, take a look at OldNavy's pics of his clear tubing coming from his factory ccv into his elephant mod. That tube is black with oil. That cannot be good for the intercooler, hoses and intake system. What is happening is that the oil accumulation has not yet caused any noticeable performance issues or failures just yet on many CRD's. Over time, if that much oil is coming out of all factory ccv's and being passed into the intake system, will cause issues as the miles accumulate. The only hope for this to go away is that once these engines reach 50K miles, the blowby will reduce so much on its own that its not a problem anymore. I'm not sure if that will happen or not.

I called the customer service hot line and they could not answer that question, they would not refer me to anyone who could. They would not answer the question why are we having these problems and what is being done. Even a little rerassurance they are working on it would be good. They said ask the dealer, lif they knew they would have given an estimate of when it would be in.

1. I can only hope that the reason for the delay is they are making new improved parts.

2. If they suspect fuel quality is the root cause they are waiting for the ULSD fuel to be everywhere before they replace them. This fuel was supposed to be everywhere by the fall of last year, now its coming up on fall and it can only be found in a few places. I have one sation near my home that has the ULSD fuel but it still isn't common yet.

So far ithe bad EGR air flow control valve has not caused any performance issues. Will my mpg's increase when they replace it? Will have to wait and see.

If that was the case and my CRD was down and out for an EGR Valve, D/C would be making my 0.00% 48 month loan payment for me while it was down.

I heard that more than once now that people who have a Provent still get EGR failure. Does that mean the Provent is a waste of money? Or is it not the job of the Provent to prevent the EGR from failure?

The Provent will not prevent any EGR problem. That is a result of poor design and lack of common availability of ULSD fuel.

The Provent WILL help in keeping any oil coming out of the CCV from ruining any hoses and choking up the Charge Air Cooler. The removal of any oil will also reduce particulate matter from combustion process and thereby helping the EGR. Might also help reduce any problem with the flow control valve.

In ANY case, the Elephant Hose Mod or the Provent is an advisable modification. It is the choice of the owner to decide which way to go. Until OldNavy refines the setup he is working on, these two optional modifications are the only ones available.

The EGR problems are a result of numerous issues. No one thing will cure the problem.
