I recently had my EGR flow control valve and EGR valve both replaced and immediately went home and installed the open CCV to prevent or minimize the possibility of future problems. Now the only residual effect of this system's design would be the sludge that is still in my intercooler or CAC. Having run some 12,000 miles before the open venting, I am pretty sure the intercooler has a significant amount of clogging, although I haven't actually tried to look inside. My question is: Has anybody cleaned their own intercooler?? If so, please describe the process. Also, can someone offer thoughts on what are the effects or consequences of a partially clogged intercooler? Thanks guys, Mykol |

I believe a better question would be: Has anyone seen the intercooler removed from the CRD? Which way did it come out and what else had to be removed? Once removed, intercoolers can usually be cleaned starting by filling with kerosene (B100 is also a good solvent), allowing to soak and lightly agitating with compressed air. Next, drain the kerosene and repeat the process using detergent water. Drain and dry the reinstall. |

What is a CAC? I see this term used frequently but I can't for the life of me figure it out. |

What I am thinking. is if the INTERCOOLER can be cleaned without removing it from the Jeep.Couldn't just the hoses be removed,The ends pluged up and intercooler filled with some sort of cleaning solution.Maybe alowed to soak a couple days or so.The only problem I can see is the Hose connections are on the top and there is no drain.A high power WET/DRY shop vac should be able to pull all the liquid out though.Of course I am talking about using a water based cleaner. I may have to try this if it is too dificult to remove the CAC. |

Oldnavy, did you get your CAC replaced yet? I am curious to know your observations regarding the difficulty of the removal. |
