So I found out a place near me sells B100, do people usually cut that with dino, or run straight B100?

There is a couple of members that claim to be running B99 or B100. I can get B100 from a cooperative near me, but am not going to pay 20 cents over pump for B10.

I would probably cut it with Dino. I don't think it would be detrimental to run B100, at least until winter time here in the upper midwest. I personally would love to see B20 available in far more places.

If you can get B100, give it a try. Remember though, that since you got your CRD was used when you got it, the B100 may loosen up any residue from dino diesel in the fuel system and may cause you to need a new fuel filter.

I've used B100 from a local supplier, motivated by the fact that it was less expensive than dino at the time. It, as well as several different percentage blends, seem to work fine.

If you're expecting it to behave pretty much like petro-diesel, then I'd say a 20% blend is a good compromise. You get the biodiesel benefits without loosing much power. My experience wasn't scientifically documented, but I do know the engine cranked a little slower and was slightly less "oomphy" when running B100, but otherwise has no problems. It DID smell better, too :)

I'm running B75-B100 at all times.

Runs fine, but BIO can make for harder starting on a cold morning and slightly lower MPG, too.

I'm happy with Bio and am going to keep using it.

Just curious what you have been paying lately for B100 (B99). I stopped by one supplier the last week, wanted almost $6/gal for tax incentived B100. The other supplier wants @ $3.50/gal (was selling to me for $2.50/gal last winter). This is insane, I'm surrounded by soybean fields. My B100 fuel cans are still empty. Have been buying B20 from a retail station for roughly the same price as petro diesel in the area.

I've only got a couple thousand on mine but have run B100 exclusively without issue so far. I intend to stick with B100 as long as I don't have any major problems...will post if any do show up.

I got the same problem... surrounded by soybean fields (including my own) and B100 which is heavily subsidized by YOUR money is going for about 20-30 cents over B5, B10, and dino.

Maybe it will moderate once the biodiesel plant they are building about 6 miles from me comes online (supposedly early 2007).

Maybe its like other products. California Oranges are cheaper in Florida than FL oranges. Fl oranges are cheaper in CA than in FL. Maine lobsters are cheaper in Kansas City than Maine. Go Figure.

Here in Iowa, the state even pumped a huge amount of money into getting retail outlets to supply E85 and Bio. Haven't noticed much of a change in my area.

Interesting that the price of B100 is higher in the midwest where Agra-Bio is grown. Here in AZ B100 is the same price as #2--$2.99/gallon [after tax rebate]. I wonder what the price of ULSD is going to be. The major oil companies are so cash poor I'm sure they'll tack on a ULSD surcharge to compensate for all the cost of R&D, etc.

Just paid $2.80/gal for B2 from a Co-Op - they state the other 98% is also American only crude. Regular dino was $3.09/gal.

Here in Seattle, B100 is going for $2.99 to $3.05, with DinoD in the same range.

I don't understand fuel pricing a bit, but maybe you could contact Seaport Biofuels and buy in bulk???

Surely you could get it cheaper than $6!!!

Been running B100 with occational tankfuls of Dino since this spring. Consumed 110 gallons so far, no issues. I keep a running blog on this at )http://www.biodieseljeep.com. It hasn't been that cold. I get mine delivered for $3.40 here in CT...far away from any soy-fields or tax subsidies (www.greenleafbiofuels.com) I would suggest NOT using home-made biodiesel on a nice, new Jeep as novice and even experienced homebrewers can junk up an engine fast.

We just had our first biodiesel manufacturing plant come on-line here in CT...so Im hoping between an anticipated tax break ($.45) and local production, that the price will drop below dino here ($3.09).

And as oldnavy will tell yah...don't show up to a dealer repair shop with anything other than B5 in your tank because they check and try to blame problems on warentee-voiding biodiesel.

I paid $2.89 a gallon for B20 in Rome GA this past Sunday. The BP station sells #2 diesel & B20 for the same price. I don't get up to Rome much, & the only other close place to get Biodiesel is in Cartersville (GA).

This was the first B20 my Liberty has had since January of this year.

Try http://www.altfuelsindex.com for uptodate BioD pricing (wholesale). I think you can still sign up for their free monthly report on a trial basis. For instance, the wholesale price of B100 in Raleigh (doesn't include taxes) on June 29, 06 was $3.48. Diesel #2 was $2.186. B20 was $2.445. The B100 national average was $3.38. If that url is dead, just google the outfit. their reports are fairly comprehensive and include pricing for all fuels.

I don't know why your price there for B100 is up so much other than perhaps the demand has increased for blended BioD and jacked up the price for the neat BioD. Actually, the one price of #3.50/gl would be somewhat below the nat'l average considering that taxes are in that price.

The refiners aren't going to give you the subsidy break, they keep that. Otherwise, they wouldn't be doing it.

IIRC, the bio subsidy is not for B100. It's for Bio BLENDS, hence B99 being sold.

I've been splash-blending to B50 only because B100 is $3.61 here and D2 is $3.15.

There's very little virgin bio out here - it's mostly recycled oil which, while even better for the environment, is a lot more labor intensive to collect and refine. Plus high demand from all the tree-huggers here in San Francisco and you get high prices. Early in the summer D2 was higher than bio (B100 was about $3.50/gallon) so I ran B100 for awhile.

As for the ULSD, it kicked in on July 1 here in Cali and prices have stayed low (at least for Cali - $3.15/gallon). So I don't think ULSD is going to make a big difference - at least it hasn't here yet.

Gregg, if you're ever down closer into Atlanta, SA White oil company (right on the edge of Smyrna/Marrietta at the NW corner of Dobbins NAS), sells B100 for about what you're paying for B20. They're setup for commercial and fleet sales, so coming in and buying 100 gallons on a trailer would be no big deal if you wanted to take it home and mix your own. I've considered doing that, but I think my neighbors would frown on a fueling station in the driveway 8)

Anyone running homebrew biodiesel or blends? There is a pretty active homebrew biodiesel community here in St Louis, but none of them have seen a CRD before.

Just put it in the garage! :)

I buy in 55 gallon drums and just keep it in the garage. Since Diesel is effectively heating oil and bio is effectively diesel and people in the NorthEast store hundreds of gallons of heating oil in their basements I figure it's legal

The thought has occured, but I'm in a split-level with the den, laundry, furnace/hotwater and garage at the same level (and I have Natural gas heat), so... I'm a little hesitant to put anything that could have fumes on the other side of the wall from the open flame. Once I build a shed in the back yard, I'll put in a 50 gallon tank or something. I wonder if I can convert my snapper to diesel :)

I called SA White 6 to 8 weeks ago & at that time B100 was $2.67 + tax. Another LOST member advised me that he recently bought B100 at White's & on each successive tank mileage & performance suffered. He's on holiday right now, so I'll have to wait til he gets back so I can ask if he's been back overe there.

Enterprise Oil furnishes the B20 at the BP station in Rome, & they have a facility in Cartersville. The only drawback is that the facility is open from 7am to 5pm, & there's no way I can get there before they close. (My job is in Douglasville, I don't get off til 4pm, & it takes me about an hour to get home.) A new Walmart will be opening in Rockmart in a few months. Maybe their fuel center will have biodiesel. I'm thinking about contacting Enterprise Oil to see if they can get something started here. I know that any station in Rockmart that would offer biodiesel would have at least 1 customer.

B99/100 at The Grange in Issaquah, WA is currently $3.09

I just filled up my new 06 Liberty CRD with about a B20 mix for its first tank.
