O.K. so thanks to all the positive things you guys said, I am now the proud owner of an 06 crd. I picked it up last night. Now , iIneed someone to tell me what I need to do to make sure me and the crd stay good friends! I have never owned a diesel before, so all of these abbreviations are foreign to me so please tell me very specifically what parts I need to upgrade, and where to find them. Thank you all in advance. |

Go read the stickies first then come and ask questions.

o.k. I read the stickies, but I feel like I came in on the middle of a conversation.I,m not trying to be a pain, I just am not sure what I need to do. What is an elephant hose conversion, and where do I get it. My jeep only has 145 miles on it and I love it.I want to protect it the best that I can. Like I said, I,ve never had a diesel and I,m not sure I know what all these abbrevitions mean |

Here is what you need to do as a new owner: 1. Buy a provent crank case ventilation filter ASAP and install it. 2. Dump the factory fill and put in Rotella 5w-40. The 0w-40 is more volatile and will fill up your intercooler with oil much quicker. 3. Find a sell of B20 fuel and use it religiously. It burns cleaner and has higher cetane than plane #2 diesel. |

OR, don't do anything listed above. I don't have provent, I use the evil 0w-40, and only use b20 when I can get it (rarely). I have 30k miles and no problems other than egr @ 10k. So, just drive it and enjoy it, but don't fuss about it |

Then note where the oil shows on the dipstick after running the engine for a few minutes and that is your full mark. Put more in and it just ends up eating the excess in places you don't want the oil to go. I'm with Vt Dog, I disn't do any of the above and actually haven't even had a new EGR at 21K. Just the flash TSB(yours will have) and the tranny filters TSB(yours will have) |
