It's expensive! At least the stuff with a cetane booster also in it. I do not think we will need a cetane booster with usld.

I haven't used it, but if you want a cetane boost, lubricity, and water control you could use one of the readily available additives such as Power Service, Howes Lubricator (which I use), etc. Most of them boost the cetane and perform other functions that are desirable. They are cost effective. I use these types of products for my CRD, Farm equipment, and Semi truck year round with good results.

Use a quality product and don't waste it by overuse and it will do the job within reasonable cost. Power Service is usually at any Walmart and priced well. The Howes is usually found at truck stops and farm supply stores. It is in the same price area as Power Service. Even the small bottles will last a while when only used for the CRD. A little goes a long way.

I will continue to use the product, even with ULSD as it does a great job of lubricity, water control, and gelling. A couple of notches of cetane over the 46 requirement of ULSD would not hurt.

I use Stanadyne in every tank. The cost is actually quite low. The 16 ounce bottle will treat 4 tanks. I have 17,000 miles on my CRD and have had no major problems (except for one bad glow plug). My mileage has hovered around 25.5 mpg.

Any major name fuel additive (e.g., Power Service, Stanadyne, etc.) is probably good. It all depends on how easy it is to get it.
