The motor trend tv show had their long term test report about the crd this past weekend. They have had crd about a year and have 18k. They gave a very positive report (no problems) and noted overall mpg at 21.9 with hiway at 28.

They also noted that the diesel in the liberty is no more, but will re-appear next in the grand cherokee.

Liberty CRD compared with the Escape hybrid and Rav 4. Check out the flex pic on the 3rd page.

The liberty wasn't in the same class as the rigs they tested.

The Escape and Rav4 are toys compaired to the liberty.

The should test it against the 4 runner and the explorer.

No, the Liberty, Escape, and Rav4 ARE all in the same class being the "Mini/Compact/Small SUV" Class. 4-Runner, Explorer, Grand Cherokee are all Mid-Size SUVs... the Liberty cannot begin to compare with them class wise

I will put my CRD vs. any of the above small and mid-size in a real world test. This thing is the best all around SUV on the market. it can tow, off-road, get up to speed quick and great mpg. I know that there are those out there that can do one or two better but there is not one that can do all better. 8)

The TV report was not a comparison between rigs. They do long term testing of vehicles and report on their experience. They were VERY positive about the CRD and bemoaned the fact that other diesels were not available.

It basically all depends on what your needs are, the CRD is great if you want to have gas mileage and still be able to pull what the 10-12 mpg vehicles can!!!
