I know some have been buying from the online sites and getting good deals - how good? The fuel filter is really what I'm looking for. Tried searching, but I couldn't get it distilled down to what I wanted. Local dealer, also a Dodge dealer, wanted $37 - and didn't have it in stock. :x They directed me to a Dodge dealer that isn't also a Jeep dealer, but they had it in stock. :? I need to check into that I guess.

These guys have the fuel filter for 29.48

I contacted WIX and they said that they will be having a fuel filter for the CRD coming out soon. They already list the part number on their website. I sent an email to them and they said the filter should be available by early fall.

Even if a person sticks with Mopar filter, the competition may bring the price down a little. Mopar has an exclusive for now.

Was told the same thing by the local NAPA dealer. Part number appears as available in their system but some type of hold or restriction on them. Coming from NAPA, this is likely the same WIX filter with a NAPA label.

You are correct. WIX makes the NAPA filters and the part numbers are the same virtually the same. I will probably go with WIX/NAPA when they are available. I have a spare MOPAR now.

I found it amusing, stopped by the NAPA heavy truck store to get my contriction gauge. The old parts man and several customers were absolutely drooling over the CRD. It's was an effort just to leave.

$18 plus tax at local dealer is what I paid, actual list was about $30 I think. I would look up the cost, but I am comfortable in my recliner at present.

Do they do online sales by any chance?

I have talked with him about it but he has as of yet to get approval from the owner or his son. I'm sure they only give me those prices because I used to run the service department way back when. Something most don't know is that some parts have a HUGE mark up (like OEM filters) while other have small mark up. Mark up over actual cost can be anywhere from about 10% to 125% and things you would think have a huge mark up has almost none and something that you would think has a huge mark up doesen't for some reason.

Remember the guy selling you the part in that dealership is getting a comission on that sale, the less he discounts the more he makes. At most dealerships they get a minimum salery + comission and that is why it is hard sometimes to get them to discount stuff, same happens in service dept by the way.
