I'm disgusted with stock tires and am shopping for new ones. The question is can I put 245/70/16 on my unlifted Libby without rubbing in a tight U turn? I do some light off roading, but nothing serious. I know 235/70/16 will fit, but the ratings don't seem as good for that size. I'd like to go as big as I can without causing other problems or requiring a lift.

Tons of people run them and yes that size will fit with no rubbing...

Depending on who you talk to. Some people around here swear that the size causes rubbing, but for some reason, nobody else seems to experience that... hmm...

There are several threads on using 245/70/16 tires in the tire section. It's a good choice and I look to do the same before long. I believe the speedo rev/mile is actually set closer to the 235/70/16 size but concerned about the lower weight rating. You will also find a lot more choices in 245/70/16.

I have 245/70 Michelin LTX on my CRD, unlifted. The tires do not rub on turns, or on any of the trails (easy to moderate at worst) I have been on. They have been on for about 20k and show almost no tread wear.

I put Toyo A/T 245/70/R16 with no lift, no rubbing. When I put 1.25" wheel adapters I did have to hammer down the pinch weld in the rear of the front fender wells.

Do I need wheel adapters or any extra stuff to go with that size? I'm looking at Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors or Bridgestone Dueler Revos.

No. 245/70/16 size is roughly the same diameter and rev/mile as the factory 225/75/16. Main difference is they are @ 1 inch wider (obviously centered on the rim). If you use back-spacers, it may change the shoulder of the tire clearance relationship to the tight spots inside the fender while turning.

Running 245/75LT Revos with little rubbing only at full lock. Checked speedo with GPS and it is dead on changing up to the bigger tires.

Anyone try the Goodyear Fortera TripleTred, it is rated #1 on Tirerack.com for the 245/70 R16 catagory.

I've been running 245/70/16 Bridgestone Revo's for the past 10k. No problems noted and nothing special needed for the installation.
