A little nuisance, but apparently the dealer had the console apart around the shifter to do the tranny TCM flash (???). Now when ever you shift from park to another gear, its got a horrible squeak. I'm pretty sure the plastic part with PRNDL is rubbing against the shifter. I know its a small thing, but I hate it when the dealer introduces a new problem when trying to fix something else.

By they way - do they really have to take the console apart to flash the TCM?

Nothing needs to be removed to plug into the OBDII connector to flash modules and it's not close to the console. Now if the flash went bad and they had to replace the TCM I don't know where it's located but there are two controllers of some kind at the rear of both front fenders on the inside :?:

Not sure why they would have your console apart. Computers are under the hood and the connection port is under the dash. I had a similiar squeek that turned out to be dirt/food related. Cleaned the area carefully and it eventually went away.

I guess I sould also add that my squeekey shifter started right after someone tried to borrow mine in the middle of the night. They used a brick instead of a key to gain access. I had to pull the console apart to remove some glass in the mechanism.

Yeah I'm still trying to figure out why they had the console apart. When I went to examine it further, the trim piece was only held in about about 1/2 of the clips.

I probably don't want to know...

The cover pops off like a snap together model. Watch for crud in the plasitc slider mechanism that moves with the shift handle. That's where mine was squeeking.
