| Post subject: | Oil pressure light and alarm |
Hey all, I am new to this forum and have a problem with the wifes 06 CRD. The engine oil light and alarm keeps coming on some times for a second or two some times for a mile or so. Really don't believe there is a problem with oil probibly wiring or switch. Anyone out there have same problem? Thanks for input and answers. |

It's the heated skid plates that does it everytime. Seriously my '05 has never had such a problem, checked the oil lately? |

yes oil is fine right at full what do you mean by heated skid plates are the wires going to the oil pressure send switch touching them? |

Well got off fat butt and went looking for problem found connection on Pressure switch not all the way on. Took for test drive OK. Will test further on long trip next week. |

Thought it was fixed but light and alarm are back again. Quess I will have to get it in to the dealer to find out where it is shorting out. Really don't think it is an oil pressure problem as the bottem end would have fallen out by now if it had low oil pressure. Checked the area wher it goes around Master cyl and was not chaffed in anyway. So maybe a bad switch. Any other suggestions appreciated. |

If the sender wire wasn't pushed all the way on perhaps moisture got into the connection and corroded it slightly. On anything but gold contacts it sometimes requires very little corrosion to interupt comm. |

Took it to dealer and it was bad sending unit. Was told that oil looked very thick and black and needed an oil change. (justdid 2k ago) no wonder this dealer is not diesel rated. They also said don't go by the suggested interval it needs to be changed every 3k and that they had several engines under warranty with less than 20 sitting there to prove it. (All hemis) (Once again see why they are not a diesel rated dealership) Anyway all is good got a trans reflash (it is great seemles between 4th and 5th and no more clunking between others even on downshift) new rear brakes. (said they were not covered as had 14k but got an ok from DR Z) new ball joints (They claimed that they had already ben changed to new type but have owned KJ since May. and new ones haven't been out that long but they changed them again) new oil presure sending switch and rental car for 2 days.
