This happened for the second time yesterday. The first time in 2wd and the second time in full time 4wd. Really, really loud so can't tell if it was from the front or rear. Anybody know what's up? Thanks.

Sounds like a CV joint, try turning the wheel while you are parked and see if it still makes the sound.

Since it did it in 2WD as well as 4WD it is probably not a CVJoint and is instead coming from the rear end. Do you have any LSD (not the drug...because then the noise would be the little ompa lompas), either factory or aftermarket in the rear diff? Are you running any wider tire than stock that could be hitting the swaybar when turned sharply? One more possibility would be a front wheel bearing. It is one piece and can go bad...I had to replace one of mine on a 2002 KJ (they come in ABS and NonABS parts ###s)

Universal joint?

The truck has 7000 miles on it and is all stock. Again it did it both times when the wheel turned all the way left going real slow. It seems like it was related to the wheel turn but maybe it was coincidental.

How are your LBJ's? Mine showed up this way, noisy "pop" when turning or while releasing the brakes after a stop.

If you have a CRD (I'm assuming), have the dealer check the right side motor mount (passenger). Our '05 developed quite the clunk when coming to a full stop or upon initial acceleration from a stop, especially when turning.

During the diagnosis, they replaced both front LBJs and also the rear track bar joint. Evidently they were all bad, but it still clunked. I told them to check the motor mount after I read comments elsewhere about this issue. Indeed, that's what it was and problem was solved when it was retorqued.

Thanks for the help. Maybe I'll bring it in and let them know of the motor mount.

Could be motor mounts, or it could be something with the front suspension. Get it checked ASAP.

I would try to avoid driving it as much as possible. Also, try to find out where the fluid is leaking from. If you can't, check all the different fluids like trans, power steering, brake, coolant, oil, etc. to find out which one is leaking out. Is it possible you or someone else struck something in the roadway?

my guess is it is power steering fluid. that seems to be the only one a little low.
