When you get the chance, before starting your vehicle, could you pop the hood and turn the motor on. Let it run for 30 sec. or so and shut it off. Do you hear any buzzing coming from the driver side down by the block? I had the buzzing sound and cel light on that everyone else had. While researching the parts, I became confused with all the part numbers associated with the EGR system. What was replaced was 5166555AB. Is this the correct part for the EGR valve or the EGR Flow Control Valve? The sound is still there but much more muted and almost unnoticeable whith the hood closed. I was wondering if this is a normal sound or if the work was not done correctly. Thanks for your help! Dave |

My EGR flow control was replaced about 5k miles ago. When it went bad, the noise was very, very loud. It sounded like a mixer in a metal bowl turned on high. The new one does make a very low hum and always has since it was installed...but it can really only be heard when the hood is up like you mentioned. I would say that it is normal. |

The most noticable difference when I had my EGR flow control valve replaced was how "softly" the engine died when the key was turned off. When my flow control valve was bad, it died with a pretty hard kick! |

Mine's pretty quiet too ... a very slight hum with the hood up for about 15-30 seconds or so .... |

Good point. Mine does the same. When it was going bad, and right before the bit loud noise started, the engine started to kind of "rumble" to a stop when I shut it down. Now, it just stops dead when I turn the key off. |
