Post subject:  CRD at Dealer for EGR, LBJ, Brakes...

Hi

My CRD was dropped of for EGR, LBJ, and REAR Brake worn before Fronts this am.

Regarding the brake issue, I was asked some questions. Apparently the KJ's brake proportioner, Will increase the bias to the rears when there is a load in the Jeep. They wanted to know how often there was a load. Specifially asking me about transporting my camera gear as I am a Professional Photographer. I said my guesstimate would be that I ran with a load of 400-600lbs about 23-30% of the time. They said well thats not really enough to cause the rears to go prior to the fronts. So they are going to attempt to figure out WHY....

On another note, I had a brief chat with the Service Director. About a Coil lift and the Warranty. He said that he did not feel that a 1" - 2.5" Coil lift would have any effect on the WARRANTY...... Hummm I may lift sooner that I thought. As I do go off-road quite often, to make images. And with the IFS.. as the front moves up and down I loose ground clearance. And would like a little more, Not that I do any wild off-roading.

How does the KJ know whether there is a load or not?

All the electronic ESP that can measure yaw...ect...might be able to adjust for "tilt"...Or the Braking Control Unit. If you had a heavy rear load it would affect the Anti-Lock and might send some braking force to the rear. That coupled with the fact that the rear pads/rotor are smaller in size...

Wow, I sound like a Service Manager...
