I'm looking for some feedback for those of you that swapped out the stock CRD airbox for the gasser Airbox. I managed to get a gas airbox and before I change it out, I wanted to see some real world experiences and feedback and if there are concrete benefits. Thanks for your help! Dave |

I'm on the fence on this one so I too would appreciate any input. |

Well, where I live, I wanted to close off the front grill during winter or 6 months of the year or so, hard to do when your air scoops there. Also I could wash the Jeep and water would be in the bottom of the airbox. Have not seen that since. Did not hurt my mileage any, have not seen any improvement. Drive in all kinds of weather, have seen snow pack an airbox in 45 miles in a snowstorm, so I am keeping it like the gas version, just makes more sense to me. |

I've done it to mine, and I'm quite happy with the results. Has noticeably more zip and quicker throttle response, from last couple times I've refueled has helped slightly in the MPG dept as well. Ranger 1 reported that it's virtually eliminated his problems with a damp air filter after driving in the rain, and with sucking up dirt and road debris into the filter housing. He also stated that if you leave the water dam off in dry weather, you can get a nice ram air effect at speed. Haven't checked my filter since swapping over, but then I haven't been putting that many miles on it lately - been too busy playing with my other diesel! I believe the one thread where this was discussed at length was under "Wet Air Filter". You could probably do a search for "V6 airbox" and come up with most of the threads where this was discussed. |

I've had no problems with mine since the swap. I have noticed the elimination of rain water when driving in the rain. Any performance I noticed is gone since the tranny reflash recall was done. |

Those of you who've done the swap, how did you locate one? Boneyards, dealer, or what? |

eBay cost me $20 plus a few for shipping. Then I spent $25 at dealer for the two inlet pieces. Someone said a while back that the air box was over a $100 new at the dealer. |

I was buying an oil filter at the dealer and asked how much one would cost. They guy owned a gasser with a cold air intake and said he had one laying around at his home. He said he wanted ten bucks for it. It even had a clean airfilter in it. Unbelieveable, but true. Now I don't gripe at all about a twelve dollar oil filter from the dealership. |

I got to try out the gasser airbox, that I got from a bone yard for $45, yesterday with this noreaster that's pounding our region. I inspected inside the box today, there's not a bit of water! |
