After turning the engine off after a 35 mile trip I could hear a racheting noise then stopped about 30 sec after shutdown, it continued while driving cycling about every 3 seconds. I wasn't far from the dealer so took it in, driving into the service bay , the service manager looks up and says that doesn't sound good. Mechanic say's Throttle Air Control Valve, can get one right away but gasket is on back order, as well EGR light came on then off about a week ago so they are going to replace that at the same time, but EGR on backorder. I havn't seen any throttle... valves on any threads in here, is this a new one?

They are probably talking about the EGR valve. Kinda looks like an throttle body and is solenoid operated. Search this forum for EGR. :)

Could the solenoid make that noise? I thought it just opened and closed.

This is the likely culprit. The noise you describe sounds like what others have heard when it fails.

That's the culprit allright. Apparently they have one in stock but the gasket is on backorder for 2 weeks, they said they will try to save the old gasket so it will at least be able to drive untill that and the EGR comes in, such a comforting feeling while I am driving around town waiting if it will make the 2 weeks.

Thanks Matt

Chris

Mine did the same thing. Took it to the dealer and he said it was a "Power Module" whatever that is. Sounded like the computer. The new one took a week to order and 10 minutes to install, and the problem stopped. Was covered under warranty.

I experienced this exact problem this week. Picking up my Jeep from the shop today. It was the EGR Flow Control Valve as expected. I got no drivability problems or MIL lights with this failure. I think the valve fails in the open postion and can't close as needed. I am running ULSD now (past two tanks) so hopefully no recurrence when this puppy's warranty expires. I am at 26,000 miles now.
